What moves us? What do we set in motion? Where are we moving to?
FLAM OUTdoors is a manifestation for live art, organised by Forum of Live Art Amsterdam (FLAM). This special edition consists of a ‘performance parcours’ in the public space in Overhoeks (Amsterdam North) and performances, installations and a concert in the Tuinzaal of Paradiso-Noord. The festival takes place from Friday September 25th until Sunday September 27th.
On Friday the 25th of September, FLAM opens the festival with a walk with storytelling and performative contributions among residents of Amsterdam Noord, followed by a discussion about the transience of the urban landscape in relation to gentrification. After the discussion there is a possibility to eat together.
for FLAM OUTdoors originates from the research of Rose Akras, commissioned by DAS University of the Arts in 2017. This edition marks the first time that FLAM seeks a direct dialogue with an urban environment and the program questions, among other things, the rapid developments in Overhoeks, and its influence on social cohesion in the area. The performance parcours in public spaces is site specific and relates to the public space, environment and urban developments of Overhoeks. The program in Paradiso Noord consists of concert performances and installations in the Tuinzaal. With an investigative character, the artists present works on diversity, the normative order of care and recovery, the artist as a tool of gentrification and the city as a palimpsest of cultural signs, transformation and forgotten history.
FLAM INdoors dates to be announced
The edition of FLAM 2020 was supposed to consist of two editions. In addition to the OUTdoors program, there would also be a multi-day exhibition INdoors. Due to COVID-19 and shifted schedules, we have decided to postpone this exhibition to spring of 2021. We will organise a preview evening with artists and works that will be part of this exhibition. A date for this evening will be announced soon.
