Repertoire N.2 is the second part of a choreographic experiment to think of dance as a practice of self-defence. Using deviant and informal techniques, Davi Pontes and Wallace Ferreira bet on an alternative, underground genealogy of self-defensive practices. With choreographies like Repertoire N.2 they commit themselves to think critically about the world we live in. While performing the choreography between imagination and intuition, trying to free their thoughts from the tools of understanding.
Bio
Davi Pontes is an artist, choreographer, researcher and a master's student at the Graduate Program in Arts at Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brasil). His works are based on the idea of the archive contained in the production of history and addresses issues of the globalised present. With that, Pontes is interested in deepening the concepts of raciality and self-defence. Among his most recent works, the film Delirar o Racial, the Repertório de Autodefensa School and the Repertório trilogy stand out.
Wallace Ferreira is a dance artist, choreographer, performer, and visual artist. He is a graduate from the Escola Livre de Artes da Maré (ELÃ), Escola de Artes Visuais Parque Lage, and Dance at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Ferreira builds strategies and choreographs actions to escape representations and through undisciplined practices his creations provoke accidents between languages in dance, performance and visual arts.
